what is a website without sources?! here's a way to view the source (ideas, people, projects) that have intentionally or unintentionally influenced sunnotes:
- (salt): the feeling of being there and how the space itself is curated. "sometimes you just have to open a window"
- Paragonday: grounding technology to the sun and experimenting with other ways of keeping <time>
- Soft Camera (Jake Dow-Smith): community camera rolls and bringing filters back
- Low-tech Magazine: dithering as a medium and making readers aware of file systems and energy consumption
- Laurel's sunprints: started thinking about these at (salt), and the similarities between this process and dithering
- restnotes: a community email network that Mark and i made back in 2022. Mark's ideas and programming magic was very inspiring when we worked on restnotes. maybe sunnotes is like the daytime version : )
The dithering uses the Atkinson algorithm. Sun positions are computed from NOAA data.
